Meridian, Idaho sits in the center of the Treasure Valley, and directly borders Boise, the capital city of Idaho, to its east, Eagle to its north, Kuna to its South and Nampa to its West. Even though Meridian doesn’t yet have the downtown skyscrapers that Boise’s urban downtown has, Meridian holds its own when it comes to prime destinations throughout the city. Some of these locations include The Village at Meridian, which is a new outdoor shopping center that houses dozens of stores and restaurants year round, and Roaring Springs, the Treasure Valley’s largest waterpark. New to Meridian in 2018, is the only Medical School in the state of Idaho, ICOM, a Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine, or D.O. program that will help support Idaho’s growing healthcare needs. Meridian is also home to 20 regional, community, neighborhood and mini-parks, including a 2.25 acre off leash dog park located just south of downtown Meridian. Meridian, Idaho is the perfect place to call home for those who want to explore everything that the Valley has to offer. For those seeking an escape from the summer heat, Meridian is about a 45 to 60 minute drive east to Lucky Peak Reservoir, a large lake that holds water for the Valley’s water/irrigation needs. Here, people can fish for kokanee salmon, trout, bass and perch. There are also boat docks and camp sites scattered along the shores of the reservoir making it a great place to recreate for the day or the weekend. Often times you will see locals swimming, surfing, wakeboarding, tubing, water skiing or just soaking up some sun on the sandy beaches. Meridian is also just a 30 minute drive to Lake Lowell, which is just south of Nampa. Lake Lowell offers boating, fishing, and 28 miles of shoreline for families to enjoy and relax at. There are docks, picnic, and swimming areas for families, fishermen and visitors to enjoy. Just a short drive north from Meridian is the beautiful Boise River, a popular place to find locals floating a 6 mile stretch of the river from Barber Park to Ann Morrison Park each summer. Eagle Island State Park is located in nearby Eagle and is surrounded by the Boise River to its north and south. This park includes 5 miles of hiking trails, sandy swimming beaches, and grassy picnic areas for families to enjoy.
